skype session - a good oline teaching resourse
Recently, I have discovered that Skype can be successfully used as a teaching resource during the lesson. It allows to invite guests, that can be native English speakers, specialists in various domains and other personalities, to join the lesson from any part of the world and speak on the topic we study at a certain lesson. I think it can be used in different subjects.
This week I and my 5th form students had a Skype session with my online mentor, Dean Vallejo, a Peace Corps Volunteer who works in Soroca. The lesson topic was “Holidays”. He told the pupils about the holidays in the USA. First he spent much time talking about Thanksgiving Day, as it is not celebrated in Moldova. He also told them about Gasparilla Pirate Festival which is an annual celebration held in the city of Tampa, Florida, his motherland and shared some pictures he took there.

My little students were both happy and excited with this marvelous event, more than that it was a great surprise for them as I didn’t tell about it in advance. They were full of impressions and good mood and discovered many new interesting things from this session. You can read their reflections HERE.
